15 Apr Are You Using Your Head to Try and Solve a Heart Problem?
“Are you using your head to try and solve a heart problem?” I recently asked a client this question after they told me they’d been wracking their brain trying to figure out what kind of career path to pursue next.
The thing is, you don’t think your way to that decision. It can’t be solved through rational and analytical thinking.
I mean, you can try, but it’ll likely lead you back to the exact same career conundrum you’re in right now.
Because the issue isn’t that your current job doesn’t tick off very practical checkboxes like paying the bills, offering benefits, or looking good on paper.
The issue is that you don’t love it.
That’s a β€ heart β€ problem.
And no amount of thinking is going to help you get clarity around something that can only be done by feeling.
So if you’ve been tryin’ to think your way to what’s next in your career, then it’s time to get out of your head and back into your body.
Start payin’ attention to the stuff that brings you joy. The stuff that feels exciting and energizing. The stuff you’re doing when you lose track of time. The stuff that lights you the eff up.
‘Cause it’s those feelings that will guide you to the answer you’re lookin’ for.
